Dr. Jenny Ploeg

Dr. Jenny Ploeg is a Full Professor in the School of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, and associate member in the Department of Health, Aging and Society, McMaster University. She is Scientific Director of the Aging, Community and Health Research Unit. This program of research was created with funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Signature Initiative in Community Based Primary Healthcare and the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Health System Research Fund Program award. The research unit is focused on development, implementation and evaluation of innovative interventions to optimize aging at home among older adults with multiple chronic conditions (including dementia) and to support their family caregivers. Fifteen studies have been or are being conducted by members of the research unit to date. Dr. Ploeg has received many tri-council and other grants as a Principal Investigator or coinvestigator and has authored over 185 peer reviewed publications. She has won a number of awards including the 2018 Canadian Association on Gerontology Recognition Award for Excellence in Student Mentoring: In Honour of Evelyn Shapiro.
